Showing work by James Clarkson, Simeon Barclay and Edward Indiana Wiffen
Showcasing exciting graduate work from the North of England. Bloc Projects has invited Leeds based curator Michael Burkitt to select work by graduating artists from Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.
Burkitt will attempt to induce critical distance from art school attitudes. He will be selecting non-complimentary practices in order to divorce any easy connections that could be made to reduce the exhibition to simply an extension of a degree show. Creating parameters for the emerging artists to show work in a way that is very much divorced from their previous exhibition experiences, this will be explored in relation to the graduate artist’s now diminishing relationship to an institution that has had so much influence over their work to date.
